To report a non-emergency crime in Sarpy County, call our 24-hour number at 402-593-4111.

File an Accident Report
If you are involved in a traffic accident and you need to obtain a copy of the accident form, you may obtain the form from the Nebraska Department of Transportation and Public Safety's web site --> Nebraska Drivers Motor Vehicle Accident Report
Obtain a Handgun Permit
To obtain a handgun permit, you can pick up an application form at the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office between 8:00 am - 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Documents that are required at the time of application are a current Nebraska operator's license, Nebraska State ID card or Military ID card with PCS orders. The address on your Nebraska ID must be current and match the address on the application. If your only form of ID is a Military ID card, then you must also provide proof of Sarpy County residency by presenting a utility bill, vehicle registration or lease agreement that shows your current address. The application fee is $5.00. Applicants born outside of the U.S. must also provide a copy of their citizenship papers, U.S. Passport, birth certificate or alien resident card. In order to obtain a handgun certificate from our office, you must be at least 21 years of age and be a current resident of Sarpy County.

Get a Vehicle out of Impound
If your vehicle has been towed, call our Impound Lot at 253-2590.
Take care of a Traffic Ticket
If you have received a traffic ticket and if the citation indicates that you do not have to appear in court, you can opt to pay the fine at the Sarpy County Court Office, 402-593-5775. If your citation indicates that you have to appear, then you must appear at the time and date indicated on the citation.

Request a Ride Along
Citizen Ride Along Program
Citizens may request to ride with a Sheriff's Office Road Patrol deputy by completing a Ride Along Request Form. A records check will be completed on the citizen requesting to ride along. No person with a prior criminal history shall be allowed to ride along without special permission granted by the Sheriff.
The individual requesting to ride shall list three dates and times they would like to participate in a Ride Along. The Ride Along will be scheduled between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
Citizens shall wear appropriate attire that may not include short shorts, short skirts, dresses, bare backs, low backs, low fronts, halter/tube tops, midriff or sheer tops, no open shirts or shirtless, and clothing must be clean and presentable.
The Ride Along Request Form must be signed by the Patrol Commander and the Sheriff prior to the Ride Along.
The Ride Along Request Form includes a release from responsibility, which must be signed prior to the Ride Along. If the citizen is under the age of eighteen (18), the form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. No person under the age of sixteen (16) shall be allowed to participate in a Ride Along without special permission granted by the Sheriff.
The citizen is an observer only and shall not become involved in or interfere with any situation.
No recording devices (audio or video) shall be permitted without the specific approval of the Sheriff.
Citizens shall not be allowed to leave the patrol unit unless given permission to do so by the deputy.
Citizens may not carry a weapon at any time during the Ride Along.
The Ride Along will not last in excess of four hours, unless approved by the Sheriff. Citizens may request that the Ride Along be terminated at any time. The citizen shall be returned to the Sarpy County Law Enforcement Center as soon as practical.
