8 HOUR CLASS FOR POINT REDUCTION OR LICENSE REINSTATEMENT
The Sarpy County Safety Program is providing programs under the direction of the Sarpy County Safety Board of Directors. A License Re-Instatement class is held, to include an 8-hour class that satisfies the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles requirement for license re-instatement. A Points Back class will provide people with the opportunity to have 2 points re-instated to their drivers license after successful completion of the class.
The (8) eight hour driver education and training course is certified by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. The purpose of this program is to assist individuals with qualifying driving offenses who need assistance in achieving the reinstatement of their driving privileges with the State of Nebraska. This program also assists individuals who are:
- Under age 21 with (6) six points accumulated
- Drivers seeking an Employment driving permit (completion required within 60 days of permit issuance)
- Drivers in need of a two (2) point credit towards his/her driving record
The Sarpy County Safety Program will issue each participant a Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles Certificate upon completion of the course. The student’s record will be forwarded to the State of Nebraska (DMV) for verification and processing. Examples of driver license suspensions and revocations are -
- Fail to comply (Failure to pay traffic ticket in any state)
- Court ordered revocation (revocation by the judge for a traffic violation)
- Insurance cancellation suspension (failure to maintain SR 22 certificate of insurance)
- Support payment violators (failure to stay current on court ordered support payments)
- Accident suspension (failure to provide proof of financial responsibility following involvement of an accident)
- Default of payment suspension (failure to make payments agreed upon after an accident)
- Unsatisfied judgment suspension (judgment ordered in court following an accident)
- Default in payment unsatisfied judgment (failure to make payments agreed upon after a judgment)
- ALR (administrative license revocation action for alcohol violation)
- CDL disqualification (removed of commercial driver license privileges due to convictions or administrative actions)
- No proof of insurance suspension (administrative action after court conviction for no proof of insurance ticket)
- Underage 21 point accumulation (accumulation of 6 or more points for drivers under the age of 21)
This (8) eight hour training program provides the participant with a (2) two point credit on his/her license. The class must be completed on a voluntary basis. If the DMV is requiring the course for reinstatement or to prevent suspension for the under age 21 point accumulation, it will not be used for the point credit. This program can only be utilized once every (5) years and the course must be completed prior to the date of violation that would assess the 12th point on the driving record.
The Sarpy County Safety Program is currently holding monthly 8 hour classes at a cost of $115 per student, plus court costs (if applicable). The court costs will be forwarded to the proper court upon completion of the course.
